Welcome to the St. Ambrose Cross Country Team Blog!
Cross Country is the ultimate Catholic sport. And, our summer training program will be focused on putting everything we've got into every workout! Why??? Because as Catholics, we understand the meaning of sacrifice...we understand that we are called to give of ourselves to benefit others. We know that the challenges we face in training can be used to glorify God. Offer it up!! You betcha!! With every stride, we offer up our joys and our sufferings to our Lord. And with that kind of attitude, that kind of faith and trust -- our tiny, but mighty team -- will accomplish great things this season!
Here's to a great season, Guardians!!
Press on!

Mrs. Hineline, my left knee hurts and there is this bump that when ever it is bumped it hurts a lot. What should I do??
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, did you injure your knee while doing something? Your mention of the "bump" makes me think that your pain may be the result of a contact injury. If this is an injury related pain, remember R.I.C.E. Rest, ice, compression, and elevation. If the pain does not go away after a couple days of rest, ice, and elevation, you may need to see your doctor. I do recommend contacting your doctor and asking for specific R.I.C.E. instructions.
ReplyDeleteIf the pain only occurs after you've been running a while, it is likely shoe related. Make sure that you are running in shoes that have been properly fit for your arches and pronation. Remember what I said about basketball shoes? They are not right for runners.
Hang in there and let me know how your knee is doing in a few days.
Mrs. H
thanks for the advice
ReplyDeleteAnother Question/comment... should/ could i bike until my knee gets better??
ReplyDeleteStephen,
ReplyDeleteBiking is a good idea. When you bike, try to find a flat trail or route for a week or two. Steep uphills are harder on the knee joint. I do think that you should rest your knee for 2 days before beginning biking. That will give your knee a chance to heal.
Keep me posted!
Mrs. Hineline

ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent plan, Stephen!!!
